The Toyger The Toyger was founded by Judy Sugden of "EEYAAS Cattery" in the USA. The Toyger is the result of a cross between a striped DSH (Domestic Short Hair) and a STB (Standard Bengal Tabby) This resulted in a striped Cat which after many years of hard work resembles a 'Toy Tiger'. Toyger's are of medium size and have pelt and glitter like the Bengal. Today's Toyger's have very good temperaments and are quiet robust and healthy Cats. The ideal colouring is an orange/tan background with dark stripes like that of a Tiger. The stripes are actually long rosettes and should not be uniform like a mackerel pattern but more like long random individual stripes. The coat must be striped with no spotting. The ears small and rounded, good solid bone structure and overall balance. The Beginning....
1980 - "Scrapmetal", early best striped Domestic Short Hair with the traditional uniform domestic tabby stripes with a dorsal stripe down the back
Millwood Rumpled Spotskin, a big boned early SBT Bengal was the cornerstone of the Toyger breed.
1997 - EEYAA'S Tres Vez had the stripes and the body but lacked good temperament and exciting head structure
2002 - EEYAA'S WarWhoop, SBT Toyger
2004 - Getting closer ....a beautiful example of today's Toyger "EEYAA'S Web Raider"
2005 - Our beautiful stud "QUEENANNE Tobias of Xquizit"
2006 - Another fine example of a "EEYAA" Toyger striking a pose.
2007 - "XQUIZIT Bryce" - this boy showing a very tigery look, great face markings, excellent ruff, great braided tiger stripes and thick plush glittered coat.
2007 and beyond
The Toyger is an ongoing venture with each generation improving on the last to obtain the objective of a beautiful domestic cat with the look of the majestic wild Tiger. I would like to thank Judy Sugden "EEYAA"S Cattery" for starting me off with this magnificent breed. Judy has been very helpful and her guidance is much appreciated and valued.
